Gold Oak Counselling is a warm and non-judgmental space where you can come and be heard. I aim to walk along side you in your journey with empathy and honesty. I strive to help you work through your problems as you see them and towards the future that you see for yourself.
I believe that everyone has the ability to change or make changes and there is always hope in the future.
I am an integrative counsellor, meaning I believe that not one single theory has the answer and that each person is unique. I draw on multiple perspectives and theories and the therapeutic experience is created around what works best for each individual. I encourage honesty and work in a way that best suits you.
I currently offer online counselling and warmly invite you book your free initial 15 minute session. This is to explore what you would like from counselling and see if we would work well together.
Hearing each other
Often couples come to counselling because they feel they are not being heard by the other person. This can lead to unhappiness in the relationship, anger, mistrust, sexual difficulties, relationship breakdowns and everything in between. This can be a painful time for many people.
Counselling for couples gives both parties the opportunity to speak and be listened to and to explore deeper issues that may be underlying what is being said. I encourage clear and honest communication; to discover ways to resolve conflict and have each others needs met. I aim to provide a safe and non-judgmental space where any topic can be explored and heard in a trusting and secure therapeutic relationship.

Sometimes people seek counselling to make a change in their life, sometimes it is about coping and managing to begin with or even self exploration and acceptance.
Taking the first step into counselling can be daunting and bring up a range of emotions. The therapeutic relationship can help gain clarity and insight to things in your life, enabling acceptance and change.
I have worked with diverse clients who have presented with a range of issues, experiences and mental health conditions.
Making the first step
The initial session, which is a free 20 minute phone consultation, is a chance for us to talk through what brings you to counselling and what your individual needs are. I regard the relationship as integral to the counselling process and believe it is important to have a ‘good fit’ for both you and me. This session allows you to decided if I am a person you are able to work with in therapy. There is no obligation to move forward with therapy if you do not feel it is right.
I work with clients on a short term and long term basis and during our first session we would decide upon a day and time that best suits you. I would take your email address and send you across my contract for you to read through in your own time, before our first session. Payment is then required to secure your session with me.
There are some discounted rates for police, fire and NHS workers, as well as a reduction for booking block sessions. These are listed in the pricing and packages section.
